All i can say about Marcel Woods at 91 was that it was the only time i lost my underwear but not my pants, sweat more, party harder.

I love College

A place where stupidity and fierce intelligence battle it out against each other in some of the most respected halls in this county.
A place where the mind and the liver is allowed to run free and consume and exhume whatever it's eye fancies.
Oh UCT How good you are to me.
For proof see the above!
Second favorite day of the year.

Jackassess and Virgins

OMG! Sofia Coppola's coming to South Afica.
Okay she's not. Bit she has released quite an exciting little number after the abortion that was "Marie Antoinette". It's supposed to debut at the Cape Winelands even though it's a 2010 release (Ja thanks Ster Kinekor).
It's your typical run of the mill indie far.
Actor makes it in Hollywood then gets injured and goes to Spa (Really expensive Hollywood Spa) and in the process has some kind of mild existential break down. Of course Coppola treats it with her ephemeral tenderness and insight that makes her one of the few mildly original (female) filmmakers in Hollywood. But what really raised my eyebrows was Chris Pontius in the cast list.
Party Boy is going to be in the new Sophia Coppola film.
F-my cow in roses!
See it just to see if Pontius really only wears thongs

"Back when Mark Wahlberg was Marky Mark!"

Title: The Fighter

Directed by: David O. Russell

Written by: Scott Silver and Paul Tamasy, Eric Johnson & Keith Dorrington

Starring: Christian Bale, Mark Wahlberg, Amy Adams and Melissa Leo

Do you remember that annoying catchy song? “Cuma Cuma Chameleon…” You hated it, but couldn’t get it out of your head and despite your best efforts you can’t remember the artist or song title and when you finally do see it again, you swear to find the artist and slaughter all the sheep in his homestead. But then you hear it again and you start to forgive the poor sod, and almost like him and then before you know it you’re singing along and boom! The cycle comes full circle.
That’s Mark “Marky Mark” Wahlberg in a nutshell a chameleon who changes colours repeatedly and as much as you try to hate him, you can’t because he’s just so damn catchy and likeable!

The following applies to “the Fighter” which sees Wahlberg and an out of this world cast produce what can be called one of the best films of the year. It’s 1990 and Dicky Ecklund (Christian Bale) is having a documentary made about him, under the auspice to celebrate his illustrious career as a fighter but in truth to shed light on the horrific effects of Crack Cocaine, his younger brother, Boxing legend and hero Mickey Ward played by Mark Wahlberg follows Dicky on his road to roedemption. Dicky who at one time defeated Sugar Ray Leonard in the ring, now defeats needles in his attic whilst trying to help his younger brother get to the upper echelons of the Boxing world. Unfortunately Dicky is a crack addict and like all crack addicts he manages to somehow steal the show with an out of this world performance by Bale, which is almost as haunting as his portrayal of Patrick Bateman in American Pyscho. On the road to sanity and redemption Micky meets home girl Charlene Fleming played by Amy Adams and the two form an bat-shit crazy blue collar tryst that is tested by Mickey’s wacky and zany army of sisters and megalomaniacal mother who do everything in their power to separate the two only leading the two closer and Dicky in jail.
It’s a tear jerker like the way they used to make them and Russell gives us a Massachusetts like no other without the famous monuments and glory of the Red Sox, but just a bunch of poor white folks trying make ends meet in a dog eat world covered in crack and John Adams Lager.

It’s a gem one of the finer Oscar contenders of the year and one of those films that’ll have you shadow boxing till dinner’s ready and make you think about taking out your old axe or set of swimming trunks and have one more shot at Fame and legally beating men to death.

Bravo 5 times over

I give it 9 Hoers!

Zef So Deaf

Die Antwoord to this writer are a lot like Menstrual cycles, something i can't understand or care to understand it's existence, but as my Girlfriend stresses you have to be more considerate and open minded. So I am. Green Eggs and Ham.
But this I like, I like a lot a meta-meta-critique on South African Society by UCT students?
C'mon!? I'm way too full of my own crap to not sit there and stroke my beard at this....
Watch and giggle and go "mmmm".

Fat guys do it for me.

Paradise Stops

Local Indie powerhouse Jann Turner is back with her new film “Paradise Stops” teaming up with the lovable duo of Rapulane Seiphome and awkwardly shaped Kenneth Nkosi. Turner goes North (Limpopo to be correct, Limpopo? Who the eff shoots a film in Limpopo?) in her new Tragiomedy to square up with two men on the opposite sides of reality, physical fitness and the law.

Turner’s last effort “White Wedding” was a rollercoaster of laughs and lit up the South African Film Scene with its original, upbeat insightful nature. A real gem and the dawning of the new age/wave (He didn’t really say that did he?) Paradise Stops promises to be in the same vain, and we can’t wait to see it!

Stay locked in for a close one on one interview with Turner

Coming Soon!

Mike Leigh's Black!

Mike Leigh

Probably the most boring name in the world for easily one of the greatest directors of dialogues ever! Leigh’s dialogue is so good I’m tempted to kidnap him, hold him at gun point and hear his last words, just so I can write them down and sell them as a screenplay.

The man is a nut and a Godsend!

Check out his latest offering in “another year”

It’s about a couple whose home gets invaded by a friends, colleagues and family who suffer from the baggage and try to drop it off with them.

Leigh being the gem that he is dodges and dodges well.

Now Showing: at Cavendish Nouveau

Secret (Super) 7 +(1)

J.J. Abraham's one of Hollywood's most prodigal talents is taking it back to the big screen with his latest feature "Super 8".
A flick about a bunch of kids who set out to make a Zombie flick in "Fucknowswhere" USA, turns sour when they witness a train colliding with a truck. Leading to Michael Jackson's Thriller being played in the background accompanied by the voices from "Lost".
Abraham's is a consummate capitalist and crowd pleaser so go watch it to get your R49 worth of Scares and explosions!
